DATA ASSIMILATION AND MANAGEMENT

Ownership of data alone is of little use if it is not known where it is, what it is, its provenance, and quality, accuracy and precision, both spatially and in observation. Our expert staff are available to help you to collate your digital and analog data, reports and other observations. This data will then be reconciled, digitised where required, and arranged according to industry best practice. Spatially located observations whether vector, raster or other ascii or binary formats will be cross-checked, metadata attached, and converted into the appropriate projection or datum. Analog reports can be scanned and indexed. Relevant data from reports can then be integrated into the metadata for physical observations.

DESKTOP STUDIES

A key process in any geophysical program is the detailed interrogation of existing information. Foremost, a rigorous analysis of existing data, making use of the latest analysis tools, can often yield important additional insight towards the question at hand.

Applied Scientific Services and Technology are experts at quickly collating available data, undertaking quality assessment and integrating these observations into the most suitable data interpretation environment. Our staff will work with you to extract the most from your existing data. Results from the desktop study will then form the basis for designing future geophysical acquisition programs.

GEOPHYSICAL SURVEY DESIGN

Our expert staff are available to help you determine when a geophysical technique will be the most cost effective solution to your problem. In the situation that geophysical solutions do not represent the best option, we will recommend the use of more suitable or cost effective non-geophysical techniques and associated service providers that we believe will be a better fit. We take a proactive approach in fully understanding the objectives of your project, and the requirements and restrictions that you may have in order to develop a comprehensive geophysical survey plan that will deliver objectives in a cost effective manner.

Our staff will spend time with you to understand what information rather than data it is that you require in order for you to make the correct decision. DATA ACQUISITION

With decades of experience amongst its staff, ASST have successfully planned and carried out geophysical surveys accross the full spectrum of techniques in some of the most harsh and challenging terrains around the world. ASST know what is required to acquire high quality data safely on any project site. Our field staff receive rigourous training in all competencies, while the company maintains a document management system with policies and procedures for all aspects of company operations. These include Risk Control Protocols and associated Task Hazard Analyses mechanisms which together with a safety concsious attitude contribute to the company’s reputation for efficient field survey operations with an impeccable safety record.

DATA PROCESSING

Applied Scientific Services and Technology maintain a suite of the most current geophysical processing software packages on the market. Where gaps exist, or commercial packages lack the required capability, ASST have the experience and resources to write custom software to achieve the desired results. Out software services can also be utilised to re-process data from pre-existing surveys or from surveys conducted by other contractors as required.

INTERPRETATION AND INTEGRATION

Integration of information from complementary datasets is a powerful part of ASST's interpretation method and leads to a comprehensive understanding of the problem at hand. This involves using her leading commercially available software packages to integrate all data from clients or to provide data in a format that can be easily integrated with other results.

ASST see data interpretation as an iterative process, with interactive workshops between ASST's professionals and the client to present findings and associated interpretations and engage in a dialogue to iteratively refine and improve the interpretataion model. Typically one or two interactive sessions are required to refine the interpretation using all available information, at which point, a final interpretation report is generated and delivered to the client.
